My name is Taya and I was born and raised in Canada. I absolutely love it here and can’t imagine living anywhere else!
My desire is to live a more simple life all the while learning to save money. I believe these two things go hand in hand. As Dave Ramsey says, “If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.” My goal is to live debt free now, so I can live life with no worries later!
I began Simply Frugal after I saw a need for a more personal and approachable site for Canadians. This is a learning experience for me as I haven’t always been, as my friends call me, thrifty.
In January 2008 I challenged myself to a don’t spend month. The only thing I allowed myself to buy was groceries. (I couldn’t starve my husband!) This was the most profound financial eye opener for me. I was amazed at where my money had been going. Little things here, little things there, all things that add up over time! The first week was the most difficult as I was breaking my habit of browsing the stores out of boredom. I’m proud to say that I succeeded in my challenge and now find it easy to stay out of the stores!
Through this process and reading other inspiring blogs, I’ve grown to love couponing and getting the stuff I want and need for less. It’s possible to live on less than you earn in Canada!
I’m going to try my hardest to show you it’s possible all the while bringing you deals, coupons, freebies and tips that will make it easier for you!
Although there tends to be multiple posts each day here at Simply Frugal, I’m hoping to implement these staples:
Monday: Menu Plan Monday – I’ll post our menu for the week. We have saved sooo much money by me sitting down once a week and planning out what we will be eating for the week. I’ll provide links to most of the recipes that I use.
Friday: You’ll find flyer deals for some popular stores including Zellers, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Walmart.
Saturday: Links Worth Sharing – I’ll have a post dedicated to interesting websites or blogs that I’ve come across on my travels around the internet. You’ll find links to money articles, frugal crafts, to frugal decorating ideas!
Sunday: I plan on taking it easy and preparing for the week to come. Don’t count on many posts this day!
If you are already a blog reader, I recommend adding Simply Frugal to your blog reader (such as google reader) so that you don’t miss out on any great deals! You can also subscribe to Simply Frugal through email and you will get an email at the beginning of each day with the posts for that day.
Please feel free to email me with any questions you may have. Also, I love getting emails with great deals that readers find, so please send those my way!
I love to hear from you through comments but I’m striving to keep Simply Frugal an encouraging place to come therefore I have imposed comment moderation in order to do this.
