I would love to win this book…..How I save on my grocery bill during the summer is to plant a garden – that way I have fresh veggies during the summer!!! Also when I have too many cucumber, I make green relish….
One small thing (that may seem obvious to other people) I’ve been doing recently is to freeze leftover ingredients so they don’t go to waste. For example, I have a recipe that requires half a can of tomato sauce. Before, I would transfer the remaining sauce into a tupperware container and it would sit in my fridge for weeks and eventually be tossed. I would always plan to use the leftovers, but never did. Now I measure and transfer the remaining sauce into a container or Ziploc bag and stick it in the freezer right away with a label saying what it is as well as the amount; that way it’s still good weeks or months later when I need it again. I’ve started doing this with chicken and vegetable stock (which I buy in the big carton, but often only need 1 c. at a time), pesto, enchilada sauce, anything that I don’t use on a regular basis in my cooking or baking. It’s a small thing, but it has already saved me quite a bit!
Every Thursday night I sit with the weekly flyers and make my list for groceries. I use all the in store bonus systems and coupons as much as I can
I shop sales and meal plan to save money. Would love to read this book

I would love to win this book! I have 2 teenage boys at home (and usually a friend or two!) so grocery shopping is a chore. To save money on groceries I go through each grocery store flyer and compare prices and then use my coupons on the sales items to save as much as possible, I could really use more help with cutting down on the cost! I love Simply Frugal…. you have taught me so much!!!

Ooops….also liked on facebook.
I try to save money by reviewing all the flyers before I shop, menu planning, and making sure I check what I have before I shop so I don’t buy what we don’t need.

a few ways I save money on groceries for my family is to plant a garden in spring and make everything from scratch with a lot of canning. I also bake from scratch and freeze everything, leftovers, baking, vegetables I blanch and freeze. I also make ahead cheap meals and freeze. We waste nothing here.
I love to find ways to save money for my family. I always use coupons and have recently discovered the Save On app which I LOVE! I don’t have to cut out coupons with the app!
I love your site. Thanks for all the tips. To save money I make lots of things from scratch like yogurt, bread, baking etc. my hubby also brings home farm fresh milk from his parents dairy so we save tons there!
My newest way to sa.ve is to try and make more things from scratch … like the homemade chocolate syrup receipe that you’ve posted here before (which my girls love but think it’s hilarious that we keep it in an old washed out pickle jar!). I have plans to try the crackers and tortillas but haven’t ventured there so far.
Making things from scratch, and using coupons are two musts for me to save money!
I try to much as much fruits and vegetables as possible from local grocercies. Though the quality may not always be the best overall, I still manage to find good, unspoiled fruits and veggies, usually at half the price of big box stores (e.g. Safeway, Save-on Foods, Superstore)! Also, I avoid buying junk food as much as possible — it’s good for the wallet and the waist!
My wife and I save money on our grocery bill by buying hardwood pellets as cat litter. Only 4.99 for a 40lb bag!
To save money on a groceries, we try to buy in season fruit and veggies. We also buy “real” food in its natural state (we try not to buy packaged food- but somehow chips often find their way into the cart!!!). The most expensive thing we buy on a weekly basis is yogurt. I love the Greek yogurt and it’s so expensive.
I love to scour the 50percent off racks for great stuff!
Great giveaway!! To save money, when I have a coupon and something is on sale I buy a few to last this week and next week. I just did that this week with cheese strings that we have for lunches.
My favorite way to save $$$ on groceries would have to be shopping with the weekly flyers and price matching. I could definitely use some new ideas!!

My favorite way to save at the groccery store is to look at the lower shelves and find the no name brand version of what I’m looking for. Usually I’ll save quite a bit when I’m ready for the till!
my favorite way to save at the grocery store is to only shop the sales and use coupons!!

We try to only buy things on sale. Even the kids are in on it looking for the yellow sale signs on their favourite treats!
I have you in my Favourites and you’re the 2nd thing I look at in the morning (email being first)
I check your site first thing and plan my grocery shopping around you and my coupons.
My favorite way of saving at the grocery store is to combine the Buy One Get One Free sale with coupons… At places like Safeway and Save-on (but I am sure many others as well), you can use a coupon for each of the items and then the 2nd item registers free when you scan your club card… that’s 50% off + whatever the value of the coupon off! Usually closer to 60 or 65% off in total on those items. Basically, great savings… And these Buy One Get One Free sales are happening now every few weeks. That’s a great way of stocking up on non-perishable items that one hates to spend too much money on such at toilet paper, detergent etc.
I already like you on Facebook
I like making big batches of food to save money. Pasta sauce, curry, chili are all good for at least three meals.
I love menu planning (coupled with sales in the flyers/coupons) to save money and we follow squawkfox’s zero waste challenge! Plus there is no food waste with my husband!!
I always shop sale items and use coupons.
Shop for items on sale & stock up when there are great deals and price match so you’re not running from store to store
Meal planning!
…and liked on facebook
Shop the perimeter, never buying processed foods. It’s just me, so I tend to make simple meals (veg fried rice, hummus and cucumber sammiches, potatoes different ways). Also being vegetarian helps, meats expensive! I use tofu occasionally, but it’s only 2.5$ for a block and I only use it in stir fry’s or Indian meals (has to be dry fried, I hate the texture otherwise…)
Use coupons. look at the weekly flyers to compare the best sales.
This book looks great – I’d love to win! My favourite way to save at the grocery store is to menu plan ahead of time. Saves so much money, time and our sanity!
