Disclosure and Privacy

Disclosure Policy:

The purpose of Simply Frugal is to help you be a wise steward of your money. By sharing money-saving ideas, personal stories, deals, coupons, recipes and more, I hope to help inspire and equip you to become a better home economist.

I have a number of costs associated with running this blog — server space, tech help, and more. So sometimes when you print a coupon, download a free ebook or purchase something through a link I provided, I’m earning a small fee from the manufacturer or company. I also accept paid advertising on my blog’s sidebar and use affiliate links in posts when they are available.

However, because my integrity is much more important than making a quick buck, I always seek to have your best interests in mind first and foremost. If I don’t think it will benefit you, I won’t post it — no matter how much someone is willing to pay me to do so.

On occasion, I also accept opportunities to write an underwritten post or giveaway. However, you can rest assured that I will only accept this type of opportunity when it is a post or giveaway that will be helpful and valuable to my readers and is something that fits well within the parameters of my blog.

My readers are my first priority. I want you to be able to trust wholeheartedly that the content you find on Simply Frugal is not influenced by money. The views and opinions expressed on this blog are solely mine and I do my best to always be honest in what I share.

If you ever have questions or concerns, please send me an email. I can’t please everyone, but I want to live with integrity so I always welcome your input and constructive criticism.

Your Privacy

Your privacy is important to me. To better protect your privacy I provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

Collection of Personal Information

When visiting Simply Frugal, we use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. The IP address used to access the site will be logged along with the dates and times of access. This information is purely used to analyze trends, administer the site, track users movement and gather broad demographic information for internal use. Most importantly, any recorded IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, traffic cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

Surveys and Giveaways

We may also collect contact information including e-mail address, demographic information, or other information relevant to reader surveys and/or giveaways. Any information collected during giveaways, such as names and email addresses, will not be used for any purpose other than to contact the winners.

Third Party Cookies and Web Beacons

We use third party advertisements on SimplyFrugal.ca to support our site (such as Google through the Google AdSense program). Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers non-personal information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, your operating system, Web pages visited, time of visits, content viewed, ads viewed, whether you have Flash installed, and other clickstream data. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

The use of cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies by these advertising service vendors is subject to their own privacy policies, not ours, and Service Provider disclaims all liability in connection therewith.

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Links to Third Party Websites

We have included links on this site for your use and reference. We have no control over and are not responsible for the privacy policies on these websites. You should be aware that the privacy policies of these sites may differ from our own. We can not be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide while visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Changes to this Privacy Statement

The contents of this statement may be altered at any time, at our discretion.
