DIY Recipes for Items Normally Bought at the Store

While I’ve been searching and reading on the web, I’ve come across quite a few recipes for items that are normally bought at the store.  In my experience, homemade is always a tastier and better for you alternative so I’m listing out the recipes I’ve found!

Have you come across any other recipes I could add to the list?

  1. Mmmm, I want to make the oreos for sure!! And fruit leather.
Robin, we do the same thing every morning too! A big kettle full of water for coffee and oatmeal. :D

A note on instant oatmeal – you can just take regular quick oats, put some in a bowl and add boiling water. Voila – instant oatmeal. We do this every morning, and add things like frozen blueberries or strawberries (picked locally in season and frozen), or raisins and cinnamon, apple chunks, or anything else that strikes our fancy. No need to add salt or powdered milk, or to prepare a whole bunch of plastic bags ahead of time. Very frugal, too, much cheaper than instant oatmeal or boxed cereal. Also much less packaging, which helps the earth.

  3. Hey, thank you for including the Ranch Mix in your list. :)
