Here’s the Target Canada coupon policy!

Target Stores Coupon Policy

Coupons are a great way to save even more when shopping with us, and it’s easy to use them at our stores. When accepting coupons, we follow the guidelines below. These guidelines apply to all coupons accepted at Target (checkout coupons, internet coupons, mailed coupons, coupons from newspapers and magazines, etc.).

  • Coupons must be presented at checkout and before your transaction is completed.
  • Each coupon is reviewed at checkout to ensure compliance with these guidelines.

Manufacturer and Target Coupons:

  • Target accepts one manufacturer coupon and one Target coupon for the same item (unless prohibited by either coupon).
  • Limit of four identical coupons per household, per day, unless otherwise noted on the coupon.
  • Item purchased must match the coupon description (brand, size, quantity, colour, flavour, etc.).
  • Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.
  • We can’t give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item.
  • All applicable sales taxes are paid by the guest at the full value of the item.
  • Coupons can be redeemed against an item for which a guest holds a valid rain check, unless coupon has expired.
  • Target only accepts coupons that are valid in Canada.

Internet (Print-at-Home) Coupons:

  • We gladly accept valid internet coupons that contain a clear and scannable bar code.
  • We do not accept internet coupons for free items with no purchase requirements.

Buy One Get One Free (BOGO) Coupons:

  • BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free). Unless stated otherwise on the coupon, the use of one BOGO coupon requires that two valid items be presented at checkout. The full retail price of one item will be charged to the guest and the second item will be discounted by its full retail price.
  • A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed toward the purchase price of the first item.
  • If any Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon may be used on the first item.
  • If any manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item.

Returns:

  • Returns of items purchased using manufacturer coupons as a form of payment may receive coupon amount returned in the form of a Target GiftCard.
  • Excessive returns of items purchased with coupons may be denied.

Exclusions:

  • Coupons are void if copied, scanned, transferred, purchased, sold, prohibited by law, or appear altered in any way.
  • We can’t accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
  • Some items may not be available at all stores.
  • We do not accept mobile coupons.
  • We do not accept mail-in rebate coupons.
  • We do not accept expired coupons.
  • We reserve the right to accept, refuse, or limit the use of any coupon.

New Shoppers Drug Mart Coupon Policy

Shoppers Drug Mart

Shoppers Drug Mart has updated their coupon policy with some fairly exciting updates!

With the new policy, you will be able to use coupons towards the points events, such as the 20x points days and you’ll also be able to use coupons to reduce your out-of-pocket total when they have gift card events (for example: spend $50, get $10 gift card).

Free product coupons are the exception.  They will not count towards the spend threshold.

Shoppers Drug Mart Coupon Policy

Shoppers Drug Mart

I am so happy about this!  Shoppers Drug Mart has made a Coupon FAQ on their Facebook page that answers all of their most asked questions.  The coupon FAQ page also creates their Canada-wide coupon policy:

Basic Rules

Q: Are there limits with coupons per transaction? For example, I heard that there is a limit of 4 coupons only per transaction. Is this correct?

A: This is not correct. There is no limit to the number of coupons you can use in a single transaction. However, you can only use one coupon per item in your purchase, provided they are all applicable.

Q: Can I use more than one coupon to buy a single item? For example, I want to buy a bottle of shampoo that costs $5. Can I use 2 coupons worth $1 each to bring the price down to $3?

A: There can only be one coupon accompanying each individual product. In this case, you could only use one coupon for a total discount of $1 (see next question for details).

Q: Can I use one coupon for more than one product? For example, I have 1 coupon for $2 off a bottle of shampoo, and I want to buy 3 bottles. Can I use the same coupon for all three?

A: You cannot use one coupon for 3 products. However, if you have three coupons, you can use one coupon for each item. However, if the second coupon is for Optimum Bonus Points, you can use both the standard coupon to lower the price and the points coupon to claim the Bonus Points.

Q: I have a $10 off coupon. Can I use it in a purchase toward the [Cosmetics 20x] Event? The rules say the Event cannot be combined with other offers, but it also says it has to be $75 after discounts. Which is it?

A: The $10 coupon can be used on your purchase, but it will NOT count toward the pre-tax event threshold. This means that if the Event says something like “Receive 20x the Points if you spend $75 in store,” then you would need to spend $75 before tax and after the coupons have been deducted in order to qualify. Please check the rules and regulations for each event or promotion to make sure these rules apply to that particular offer.

Q: I have a coupon that was printed in the United States. Can I use it at Shoppers Drug Mart?

A: Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix will only accept coupons with a Canadian redemption address printed on them. We cannot redeem manufacturer coupons that were printed in the United States of America or in other countries.

Q: I have a coupon from one of your competitors. Can I use it at Shoppers Drug Mart?

A: No. We will only accept coupons from Shoppers Drug Mart, vendors or manufacturers.

Digital and Online Coupons:

Q: I found a coupon for a product online. Can I print it and use it in your stores?

A: Yes. Coupons printed from the internet or from email are accepted at all of our locations, provided they meet industry standards and are valid. Our stores retain the right to refuse any coupon that does not meet legal standards or appears to have been tampered with.

Q: A company sent me a coupon for their product via email. Can I print it and use it in your stores?

A: Yes. Coupons printed from the internet or from email are accepted at all of our locations, provided they meet industry standards and are valid. Our stores retain the right to refuse any coupon that does not meet legal standards or appears to have been tampered with.

Q: Do you accept digital coupons displayed on my mobile phone or tablet device?

A: Not at this time. We will post an announcement on Facebook and Twitter if and when this changes.

Coupon Amounts:

Q: I have a $2 coupon for a product, but sometimes the sale price for it is only $1.99. Can I use this coupon for this product during the sale?

A: Yes, you can. Our cashiers will enter the actual price for the item with the coupon code, instead of the printed price. In this case, they will enter the coupon value as $1.99 instead of $2. No change will be provided.

Q: I have a $2 coupon for a product and just purchased it on sale for $1.89. Will Shoppers Drug Mart pay me the $.11 difference?

A: No. Coupons and portions of coupons have no cash value, so no change will be given.

Coupon Rejection/Refusal:

Q: What are some conditions that might lead to my coupon being refused?

A: Coupon offers are variable, so you need to pay particular attention to the coupon details to make sure you have met the minimum pre-tax or product purchase requirements. All coupons must have manufacturer information, a valid expiry date and country of origin. Some reasons why a coupon might be refused include:

  • The redemption address is not located in Canada
  • You have not met the minimum pre-tax or product purchase requirements as stated on the coupon
  • The coupon does not appear to be valid or is missing required information
  • The product brand, size or type does not match the coupon
  • The coupon is for a product not sold in store
  • The coupon shows evidence of tampering

Scanning Code of Practice (SCOP)

Q: Do you follow the SCOP (Scanning Code of Practice)?

A: Yes, we do.

Q: What is SCOP (the Scanning Code of Practice)?

A: The Scanner Price Voluntary Code is not legislation but is, instead, a voluntary code which has evolved from the collaborative efforts of the Retail Council of Canada, the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores, the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers and the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors. It was implemented in 2002. A copy of the Code can be found on www.retailcouncil.org.

The Item Free Scanner Policy, which forms part of the Code, provides that “on a claim being presented by the customer, where the scanned price of a product at checkout is higher than the price displayed in the store or than advertised by the store, the lower price will be honoured; and (a) if the correct price of the product is $10 or less, the retailer will give the product to the customer free of charge; or (b) if the correct price of the product is higher than $10, the retailer will give the customer a discount of $10 off the corrected price”.

There are several exceptions to this Item Free Scanner Policy set out in the Code, including that it does not apply “to a product where, in respect of the product, the law (a) establishes a minimum price (or specified price); or (b) does not permit the retailer to offer a discount or a rebate”. Further, the Code provides that “when a retailer cannot immediately correct a scanner error in respect of a product, it will post a correction notice in a conspicuous place. Once such a notice has been posted, the Item Free Scanner Policy is no longer in effect in respect of the relevant product.”

Other Questions:

Q: I am going to a store to buy some products with full value coupons, so I won’t pay anything out of pocket. Will I get a receipt for this purchase?

A: Yes. You should always receive a receipt, even if your entire purchase is paid for with coupons. It will show that a number of coupons were applied and that you didn’t pay anything. This will also make it easier for you, if you need to return or exchange something.

Buy-Low Foods Coupon Policy

Buy-Low Foods

Here’s Buy-Low Foods coupon and price matching policy:

Thank you for contacting Buy-Low Foods, we always enjoy hearing from our customers.

Our price matching and coupon policy are internal documents that as a private company we cannot share.  I can tell you that we do accept valid manufacturers coupons, one per item, and they cannot exceed the value of the product.

Regarding Flyer price matching we have not engaged in that policy.  From week to week the items and retails in our flyer retails do change.  We believe that on a regular basis our pricing across the entire store will result in a basket of groceries that week in and week out is very competitively priced.

I hope this information helps you.

Longo’s Coupon Policy

Longos

Longo’s has emailed me their coupon policy:

At Longo’s we accept manufacturer’s coupons for any product that we carry.  We do not, however, honour internet coupons at this time, as there is quite a high incidence of fraud.  The only internet coupons that we do honour are those that are issued by Longo’s.  We do not price match our competitors, but will honour our flyer prices at any Longo’s location.

I do hope that this information has been helpful.  Should you have any further questions or need any additional assistance, please feel free to contact our Customer Care Centre at any time. Our Customer Care Representatives will be more than happy to assist you with an issue you may have. You can reach the Customer Care team at 1-800-9LONGOS between the hours of 6:00am and 10:00pm, Monday through Friday and 7:00am through 6:00pm on Saturday.

Extra Foods Coupon Policy

Extra Foods

Here are Extra Foods coupon and price matching policies:

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

Further to your inquiry, I am pleased to provide you with our guidelines regarding coupons at this time.  We do accept manufacturer and internet coupons however they must have “To The Dealer or Retailer” text on them.  They cannot be past expiration and the cashier must follow the exact instructions as laid out by the coupon. The disclaimer “one per purchase” or “one per customer”means only one coupon can be used per transaction regardless of the number of units you are purchasing.  If the disclaimer reads “one coupon per item” you would be able to redeem as many coupons as units you are purchasing per transaction.  If any of the coupons you are redeeming(whether issued by the retailer or manufacturer) state “cannot be combined with any other offer” than you are not able to redeem a second coupon on that item or transaction.

Further to your inquiry regarding Ad Price Matching for our Extra Foods stores, this policy applies to items in a competitors’ flyers that are priced lower than Superstore.  Please note that the item must be in stock at our competitor’s store, and must be the same exact product that we carry.  Therefore, is an item is a different package size at our store compared to our competitor, the policy would not apply.  A list of competitors in the applicable geographic trading area for each store will be available at the Customer Service desk at your local store.  This Guarantee does not apply to competitors’ private label products, in-store specials, 2 or 3 day sales, buy 1 get 1 free, 2 for 1 promotions, any discount obtained through loyalty programs and competitor online pricing.

Giant Tiger Coupon Policy

Giant Tiger

Giant Tiger has emailed me their coupon policy!  Here it is:

Thank you for taking the time to e-mail us.

Please note that if it is a valid manufacturers’ coupon with the manufacturer’s information available (i.e includes instructions to retailers, barcode, expiry date etc), we do accept coupons.

As for your second question, our system is not currently linked to the item and Manufacturer’s coupons are treated as tender.  For this reason, the full amount of the coupon would be applied.

Internet coupons are particularly troublesome as most do not have the required elements for stores to accept.

We do not allow more then one coupon per item (stacking).

Please note that the store owner will have the final word on which coupon his store is accepting.
