I’m back with another homemade cleaning product! This time it’s the recipe for my natural all-purpose cleaner. I use this stuff for everything. The counters, the bathrooms and even the walls!
Here’s what you need:
- 2 tsp Borax natural detergent – Find this at your local grocery store in the laundry aisle
- 3 Tbsp Dr. Bronner’s Liquid Castile Soap – Choose your favourite scent
- 4 Tbsp White Vinegar – a natural disinfectant! I always buy the club size because I like to have it on hand for its many uses.
- Distilled Water (or boiled water)
- 16oz spray bottle
Mix the borax, white vinegar and a little bit of hot water in a spray bottle. (Must be hot water to incorporate the borax.) Add the Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap, then swirl the bottle to mix. Once it’s all mixed, add the rest of the water to fill up to 16oz. It will be slightly white and opaque.
is it regular vinegar you use or the stronger one for cleaning?
Similar to a recipe I use also. Sometimes thee soap seems a little too much, but need to remember to shake before using to mix. I also add some lemon essential oil & occasionally for the bathroom some tea tree oil.
Just vinegar & water is my other spray go-to. Especially for cabinet & stove tops.
anither question t add to Carolyn ‘s, do you add the second part of the water hot, or should that be cooled a bit?
You can definitely let the second part cool off. I once added it straight to the bottle and the bottle got all warped. Oops!
Is this DYI cleaner like the spraying kind? (by that I mean you do not need to rinse afterwards).
Thanks!
Unfortunately I wouldn’t let it sit. I simply rinse out the cloth and quickly go over each surface to give it a “rinse”
