I start in January ordering free samples, work all sales, coupon for the best deals and never ever use a credit card for Christmas. This way I can not only do stocking stuffers for the kids and grandkids but also contribute to my church and the local food bank. At church I am given scrapes if wool (1/2 skein or more) and throughout the year as I accumulate the wool I knit slippers for the local woman’s shelter.
