Just in case you have a bit of leftover turkey from the weekend :), I thought I would share this delicious slow cooker turkey chili recipe with you! While it’s meant for ground turkey, I’m pretty confident that leftovers from your turkey dinner will work just as well!
This slow cooker turkey chili is perfect for cold nights when all you want is some comfort food. I’ve tried quite a few chili recipes and I think I’ve found my new favourite! Actually, everyone enjoyed it. We ate it two nights in a row, then I froze the rest to make for a super easy meal one night!

Hi, Taya:
This week, I decided I was going to make this. But yesterday was a little crazy, and instead of having any time in the morning to place all of the ingredients in the slow cooker, I ran out of time. So I decided to cook this exact recipe–the same proportion of ingredients as what you’ve listed here–in my Dutch oven on the stove. I had 2 hours at the end of the day, but not any time at the beginning of the day! The only thing is that I sauteed the onions for a bit, then added the turkey & then dumped in all of the veggies & tomatoes/tomato sauce to let it simmer for 2 hours. The veggies were a little “crunchier” than I like, so the next time if I “run out of time in the morning” (again!), I’m going to saute the veggies first, then add the turkey and tomatoes & sauce.
It was delicious! Some chili recipes don’t taste as good on the first day as when it’s served the next day. This recipe tasted as good yesterday as it did for my lunch today! I especially loved the amount of spices–it was just right for all of us in my family.
Just wanted to say you’ve also got a really great “track record”: I’ve also made your banana/chocolate chip muffins, and my younger son (and I!) just gobble those up. So 2 recipes for 2. Keep up the yummy recipes!!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Also, thanks for testing out the stove top method for me! 😉
Good to hear this recipe inspired you! Thanks for your thoughtfulness! I appreciate your kind shout out. And love the idea of using leftover shredded turkey in place of ground turkey. Great idea! Blessings, Kelly
