I’ve got a simple tip for you today that could help you save money on your grocery bill as well as precious time!
Keep a running grocery list on your fridge or in another handy spot to list items you’re running low on or have run out of. Not only will having a list help you to only buy the items you need but it will save you from making multiple trips to the store each week. Saving you money because you’re only buying what you need and you’re not using unnecessary gas to get to the store! Never mind the satisfaction of knowing you didn’t forget to buy anything important!

I try to keep a running list, inevitably there are usually things I do forget but most often not important enough that I need it right away. Those items I get when I am out for another reason.
My parents have been doing this for the better part of 50 years – and they OWNED the grocery store for 30 of those years! 😀
I’m guilty….I have never really kept a grocery list. If I’m ‘out’ of something I will typically recall and remember to pick up, but I never have a list.
Absolutely! I have a free app on my Blackberry (called Shopper), and through the week as I run low on things, I add to my list. I also do a weekly menu, so that helps me stay on top of what we’re using. Both things really cut down on those “just-needed-one-item-but-came-home-with-six” trips to the grocery store.
Its such a small idea but it has BIG impact!
My list is built into the same page I use for my weekly meal planner. This way I can easily bring the list of the groceries I need AND my planned meals for the following week with me when I go grocery shopping on the weekend.
I’ve been getting better at doing this – simply because I hate having to constantly run back to the grocery store – sometimes we’d make 3-4 trips a week! I actually keep a list on my phone now & the voice control feature makes it even easier – I just talk into the phone & don’t have to write anything 🙂
Keep a running grocery list- doesn’t everybody do that as a matter of coourse – wouldn’t even have occured to me that people didn’t
