
Well, it’s getting harder to avoid the truth. Back to school time is right around the corner. 🙁 While this might be a happy time for you, it can also be an expensive time of year. School supplies and new clothes can really add up!

I buy school supplies at the beginning of the season. I also buy after school starts and have a bin with extras for the year and beyond. Both kids will reuse their backpacks, and they brown bag lunch.
We are entering grade 1… But only my pre K child gets back to school stuff. My eldest gets clothing from family for Christmas . … But but it’s 1-2 sizes to big every year = back to school clothes! Of course I buy off the Facebook swaps through the year and if it’s big now it will fit later on. School supplies he gets the same backpack/lunch case/water bottle/paint shirt etc as last year. The teachers ask for a certain amount of cash… because they go out and buy all the needs in Bulk with discounts for cheaper than what I would spend for each child. Thank goodness!
In kindergarten, we got our list for all of elementary school that year. When things are super cheap, I buy what I need for all the years at once. For example, this year (grade 2) I am
Using duo tangs I bought two and a half years ago for 5 cents! Also I am reusing whatever I can again this year (back pack, pencil case, etc)
I use deals like rexall has right now for a $50 old navy gift card for only $40 then I shop the online clearance deals to get the best price possible on back to school clothes. I also use websites like Ebates to add to my savings.
When it comes to school supplies I find each store each week has a super low price on a couple items starting in August. I like to purchase from those deals each week to keep the costs down. When its a really really low price I buy extra for next year and build a school supply cabinet making life easier for following year.
