May 20 | Meal Planning
You know having a menu plan is a good thing, but wouldn’t it be nice if someone did it for you? And created a grocery list at the same time? Well, right here, is a free printable weekly menu plan and grocery list!
Well, shoot. I completely forgot to do a menu plan last week! I’m sorry to those of you that use them each week!
I’m a huge believer in the benefits of having a menu plan. Not only can having a menu plan save your grocery budget, it will save your sanity as well! I love menu planning and have been planning a menu nearly every week since my husband and I got married almost 10 years ago!
If you’re all too familiar with the drive thru, having a menu plan in place will help you bring back your evening meals at home. Without a plan, it’s all too easy to throw together an unbalanced meal or go to out for fast food again. Not only will you be eating better with a plan in place, you’ll be having more fun sitting down with those you love knowing that everyone is being well nourished.
However, if you’re new to planning a menu, it can be overwhelming. That’s why I’m starting a new weekly series of free printable menu plans and grocery lists for you to use!
While I would love for you to learn how to create your own menu plans, I also love to help where I can. As a busy work at home mom, I know there simply aren’t enough hours in a day for us women to do it all. We have to pick and choose what we think is best. Something I strive for in our family, but is always a work in progress, is that we’re sitting down and eating a healthy meal together on a regular basis. Preferably to a meal I cooked at home because it’s cheaper and better for us!
This FREE Weekly Menu Plan series will help you get started cooking at home with 5 meals, 1 salad, 1 dessert and side dish suggestions that you can make on your own.
That’s five meals that you can stretch however you need. Depending on your family size, you might end up having leftovers or you might end up eating it all in one go. Adapt each recipe to suit your needs. Regardless, you’ve got 5 meals planned and and two open nights for leftovers, planned take-out or something simple like sandwiches. You’ll feel so good knowing things are planned and ready to go!
Having a menu plan in place can drastically reduce your grocery bill and save you so much trouble when the clock hits 5 o’clock.
Here’s what’s in this week’s plan:
Easiest Ever Orange Chicken (serve with rice and steamed vegetables)
Crock Pot Taquitos (serve with homemade oven fries)
Slow Cooker Pasta E Fagioli Soup (serve with whole grain bread)
Easy Pot Roast Crock Pot Recipe (serve with this week’s salad)
Ranch Chicken (serve with this week’s salad and steamed vegetables)
Salad: Arugula Salad with Parmesan, Lemon and Olive Oil
Dessert: Strawberry Brownie Dessert Kabob

May 19 | Easy DIY

I’ll be honest in saying that I’m sort of dreading this summer. My oldest daughter will be finished her two days a week preschool and swimming lessons so she will be home a lot more. As with most five year olds, she has a lot of energy and likes to keep busy. Normally this is okay, but the littlest is still napping quite a bit so during this time, we’re stuck at home. (and boredom usually strikes…)
With that in mind, I had to figure something out. Especially since I wanted to figure out some easy activities I could do with my oldest to make her feel like mommy isn’t just around for the baby’s needs.
Enter… The Summer Bucket of FUN!
I’m so so excited about it! This summer bucket of fun is loaded with supplies, mostly from the dollar store, that can be used to create an almost endless supply of activities. I think it’s going to be a hit!
The idea is that when Sienna is looking for something to do, she’ll pull something out of the bucket and we’ll get to work doing something fun. Some of the activities she can do on her own as well. I hope that this bucket will create some fun memories for her and remind her that life isn’t all about her little sister. 😉
Here’s what’s included in the bucket:
In order to complete some of the activities, I’ll have to gather some supplies that I most likely have on hand already. In total, I spent about $25 at the dollar store to fill the bucket, so I think each activity will end up being quite frugal too! (Especially since the list below is only a small list of possibilities!)
Here are some of the possible activities that we can do with the supplies from the bucket:
- My Summer Adventures book
- Spray Chalk painting
- Hand print Octopus
- Flip Flop Footprint picture
- Bird Feeders
- Shower curtain drawing
- Rock candy experiment
- Ice cream in a Bag
- Marshmallow and toothpick building
- Nature scavenger hunt
- Make a bouncy ball
- Go to the library
- Paint rocks
- Movie night/day
- Ice block treasure hunt
- Fishing game
- Blow bubbles
- Chalk drawing
- Magazine art
- Melted crayon art
- Fly swatter art
- Decoupage vase
- Popsicle stick basket
You can purchase The Summer Bucket of FUN ebook! The ebook includes a list of all the activities, a supply list and instructions for all the activities in one convenient downloadable book! I’ve made it really affordable at only $5.
