Menu Plan Monday – Week of January 31, 2011

Would you look at that, my calendar says it’s January 31.   I can’t decide if I’m glad or not because that means summer is quickly approaching, but it also means that a month has passed and I hardly remember any details about it!  What can you do though.

Thanks to planning a weekly menu, I can at least look back and see what we ate everyday! 🙂

Here’s what I’ve got in mind for this week:

Monday:  Chicken Pot Pie (still haven’t had this!)
Tuesday:  Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Chops, roasted potatoes, steamed veggies
Wednesday:  Chicken Caesar Pitas
Thursday: Linguine with Broccoli, Ricotta and Walnuts  (do you think feta would work in a pasta dish?)
Friday:  Sloppy Joe Calzones (I make pizza dough for the wrapper instead)

Menu Plan Monday – Week of Janaury 24, 2011

Time for another new menu plan!  This week I’ve actually got a few recipes from Relish (the menu planning service I’m trying out). They seemed more appealing this week for some reason!  What have you got planned for this week?  Oh, and since I’ve had a few requests for more information on menu planning, I’ll be starting up a little series later this week to show those who are curious, the ins and outs!

Here’s what I’ve got in mind for the week:

Monday:  My homemade pasta experiment (recipe will be posted tomorrow!)
Tuesday:  Easy Huevos Rancheros (from Relish)
Wednesday:  Cauliflower Cheddar Soup (from Relish), bread of some sort
Thursday:  Chicken Pot Pie (carried over from last week)
Friday:  Chicken Tostadas with Creamy Lime Sauce (supposed to be fish, but we don’t like seafood 🙁 )

Menu Plan Monday – Week of January 17, 2011

It’s time for another week of meals to plan!  You might remember a couple of weeks ago I posted about a 6 month menu planning service by Relish that was on sale for $14. (It’s no longer available on sale)  Well, I was debating trying it out and I did in fact sign up.  Last week was my first week trying it out.  So far?  I’m not so sure I like it.  I thought it would make my menu planning easier, but since all the recipes are new to us, I found myself still making some of our tried and true recipes!  I did find one great recipe for some Black Bean burritos on Relish that we did end up loving.  The other recipes I had picked out never got made.

I’m not giving up on the menu planning service yet though.  It could very well still work for me!  So for this week, I’ve got one meal from Relish and the rest are recipes that we already enjoy.

Monday:  Slow Cooker Maple-Cider Pork Loin (from Relish), mashed potatoes, veggies
Tuesday:  Fettuccine Alfredo, garlic bread, salad
Wednesday:  Hamburger Vegetable Soup, homemade buns
Thursday:  Chicken Pot Pie
Friday:  Out for dinner!

Menu Plan Monday – Week of January 3, 2011

Happy New Year!  Did you have a good weekend?  I was planning on taking the majority of the weekend off to relax and what do you know?  My body decided to come down with a cold which landed me in bed for pretty much the entire day yesterday!  Man was I dizzy!

Anyways, our menu this week will look similar to the one last week as the pasta dish I had made, lasted us a few meals!  Gotta love easy!  And I’m not too sure what’s going on with dinner tonight as we have to drive my brother to the airport.  It’s a sad day here. 🙁  Anyhow, lets get on with the menu plan:

Monday:  Unsure (possibly frozen pizza?)
Tuesday:  Beef Chili + Sour Cream and cheddar biscuits
Wednesday:  Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup
Thursday:  Sweet & Sour Chicken, brown rice, steamed veggies
Friday:  Sloppy Joe Calzones (in the freezer & I made homemade pizza dough to wrap with)

Menu Plan Monday – Week of December 27, 2010

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas with your families this year!  Ours was fantastic as usual and I think I’m still full from dinner!

Have you all noticed that I haven’t had a menu plan up in a while?  This might be shocking, but I actually hadn’t even planned anything for a couple of weeks! *gasp*  I think I might be the most shocked since that was the first time since being married I went without a plan.  I’m not convinced it really worked for me either.  We didn’t eat as healthfully, that’s for sure.  But we were out for dinner a few times at relatives and friends who fed us quite well and I managed to pull some decent stuff out of the freezer! 🙂  I did do less grocery shopping though, but I also noticed a bit more waste with the food items I did buy.  Broccoli had gone bad and some lettuce was slimy before we had the chance to eat it all.  I’m more then ready to jump back into menu planning now that we’ll have some sense of routine back since Christmas is over!

Here’s what I’ve got in mind:

Monday:  Chicken Caesar Pitas (before the rest of the lettuce goes bad!)
Tuesday:  Pepperoni Pesto Pizzas, salad
Wednesday:  Olive Garden Ziti (less cheese and added ground beef), steamed carrots & broccoli
Thursday:  Beef Chili + Sour Cream and cheddar biscuits
Friday:  Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Soup

Menu Plan Monday – Week of November 22, 2010

Winter has officially hit.  We’ve been blanketed by snow the last three days.  I love  the snow but I’m not a fan of the cold temperatures it brought with it!  It takes me forever for to warm up!  Although, I do enjoy piling on the sweaters and blankets!

This week menu wise, is going to be very easy!  It’s my husband’s birthday week so I’ve got a couple of meals to not plan!

  • Chicken Pot Pie
  • Out for dinner at a local restaurant that gives free birthday meals!
  • Over to Father-in-law’s for another birthday dinner!
  • Fettucine Alfredo, garlic bread, salad
  • Beef, Bean and Rice Burritos (I’ll make lots so I can stick some in the freezer for a quick lunch or dinner!)
