Menu Plan for the Week of May 21, 2012

The weather this week, is looking to be a bit dreary, so I’m going to make some “comfort” foods that will hopefully satisfy us!  Do you find that you cook according to the weather?

Here’s what I’ve got in mind for the week:

  • Chicken Pot Pie (in the freezer, and a friend made it for us)
  • Hashay (beef & gravy served over mashed potatoes and carrots)
  • Sesame Chicken (recipe coming), roasted potatoes, steamed veggies
  • Potluck, I’ll be bringing a potato salad
  • Out to eat

There, I think that should do it!  What will you be eating this week?  Leave your menu in the comments!

Menu for the Week of May 7, 2012

Time for another menu!  At least until the end of June, we’ll be having quite a few really simple meals because my husband is playing soccer three nights a week.  His games start quite early too, so dinners need to be quick to make and quick to eat!  I’d love to hear your suggestions for meals during times like this!

Here’s what I’ve got in mind for dinners this week:

  • Bean dip (refried beans, salsa, cream cheese and cheddar cheese), fruit smoothie
  • Tortellini (using a coupon for a free package!) with Rose sauce, salad
  • Chicken Tacos
  • Hashay (beef cooked to death in gravy served over mashed potatoes and carrots, a childhood favourite!)
  • Lasagna (in the freezer)

What’s will you be eating this week?  Leave your menu in the comments!  🙂

Menu for the Week of April 30, 2012

I thought it was high time I started getting back into menu planning after a bit of a hiatus.  We’ve been eating through our freezer meals and have been fed very well by family members!  I’m feeling well enough, after the arrival of our little girl, to get some more interesting meals on the dinner table!

Here’s what I have in mind:

I’d also like to try making these chewy granola bars for some easy snacking.

Do you find, after taking a break from menu planning, that you’re more inspired and excited to actually cook?  I’m finding that to be the case!

My Great Big List of Freezer Cooking Meals/Starters

When I was planning my freezer cooking meals, I loved finding lists on other websites of what others have made for the freezer with success.

So, I thought I’d share my own list of everything that I made!  The list includes completed meals, meal starters and snacks.

What are you favourite foods to freeze?

Menu for the Week of March 19, 2012

Hmmm, will this be the last week before baby’s arrival where I plan a full menu for a while?  I’ve been busy stocking the freezer and I think we’ll have a pretty good selection of meals to choose from!  (I’ll be posting the list of everything I created later this week)

Menu Plan for the Week of March 12, 2012

Here’s what I’ve got planned for our menu this week!  I’ll freeze any freezable leftovers that we may have or we might enjoy the leftovers for lunches this week 🙂

I’d also like to make these buttermilk biscuits for the freezer.  I intend on making the dough, cutting it into biscuit shapes, then flash freezing the raw dough on a cookie sheet.  Once they’re frozen, I’ll put them in a freezer bag.

What’s on your menu this week?  Let us know in the comments!

PS:  the above picture is of a loaf of Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day that I made last year.
