These Ginger Crinkles rank among one of my all time favourite cookies, especially at Christmas time! They're chewy, perfectly spicy and delicious!
Ginger Crinkles
Servings: 3 dozen
Ingredients
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil I replaced with coconut oil for the health benefits and it worked!
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon I add a bit more
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • sugar for rolling
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, whisk oil with sugar, egg and molasses
  3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and salt
  4. Stir into the molasses mixture to form moist dough.
  5. Shape into 1" (or so) balls with your hands, roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees until flat, cracked and browned; about 12 minutes.

Tasty Homemade Cold Weather Drinks (Apple Cider and Warm Vanilla Milk)

I don’t know about you, but I tend to drink a lot of hot drinks this time of the year. I even have a few favorites that I would love to share with you!

Warm Vanilla Milk
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla
  • Sugar or sweetener of choice
Instructions
  1. Add all the ingredients to a pot.
  2. Sugar (or sweetener of your choice) is added according to your personal taste.
  3. Simmer until steaming!
Apple Cider
Ingredients
  • Two 1L containers of apple juice
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp whole allspice
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
Instructions
  1. In a large pot, combine apple juice and cinnamon sticks.
  2. Wrap allspice and cloves in a small piece of cheesecloth, and add to pot.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat, and keep warm.

Can also be made in a slow cooker!

Delicious Banana Bread Recipe

Well, smoothies are being made less often in our house because of the cooler temperatures, so that means bananas are piling up in our freezer. Of course, this also means banana bread is being made more often! (and Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins!)

Here's our delicious banana bread recipe.  Enjoy!

Delicious Banana Bread
Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 bananas mashed
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9x5 loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda and salt.
  3. In a different bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs, vanilla and bananas until well blended.
  4. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture, stir until just moistened.
  5. Pour batter into loaf pan.
  6. Bake for 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center. Let cool, then remove from pan.
